The Golden Wrench video
See the new Engineer’s Golden Wrench in action. In this video it appears that the golden wrench turns it’s victims gold ultimately killing them.
Ohhhh… What is The Golden Wrench?
In today’s TF2 update (July 01, 2010) we received a small list of changes:
Team Fortress 2
-Added missing earbud particles for DX8 players.
-Added new ConVar mp_windifference_min to be used with mp_windifference.
-Added Engineer to the list of classes that can equip Max’s Pistol.
-Rebuilt sound cache files that were out of date.
However what you didn’t see on this list that appeared in game files and hammer was the Golden Wrench. Not currently a selectable item for the engineer, it’s value and uses are relatively unknown. However we do know it’s normally a Level 25 Wrench (possibly a replacement for the normal wrench) and its “Imbued with an ancient power. Is this possibly a new weapon that will be avaliable in the update, will this be a special unlock like the soldier badge that will be found on a hidden page, or is Valve just trolling us all for a good laugh.

Secret code:
Looking even further into this, there have been secret codes found on image files as seen here.
There was also a URL given that is a decryption program, which can decrypt the coded message at the top of that image. You must use the key “saxtonhale”
The message is something like “Clearly here is more space than needed. I wonder what else was here?”
So this image may be a dead end or red herring.

Free Weekends, Updates, and Speculations (Oh My!)
After a long triumphant wait, the TF2 update on June 10th, 2010, allows Mac OS X users to play Team Fortress 2. As we put one more TF2 update under our belts, we can’t help but feel like the Engineer update is now closer than ever. New or confused about all this information? Well here’s everything you missed and more:
First off, Valve kicked off this Mac update with a Free Weekend and new blog post. All Mac users that log in this weekend and play, will receive a pretty white pair of Apple Earbuds in game. (Must log into a mac, launch TF2 and die on a server at least once to receive the ear buds.) If you don’t have the Earbuds yet and have access to a mac, make sure to do this soon, as the offer end Monday June 13th, 2010. Blog post also contained a new video, TF2 cartoon, and update information.
Next! Training is finally here. Team Fortress 2 players can now train their aim against cardboard cutouts and TF2 bots. Unfortunately it is only available for the Soldier currently, but there is speculation that more classes will come in the future.
Then, small but kind of important things! TF2 also received a menu makeover, a new crafting icon, and a new practice option, where users can test their skill on official Valve Koth maps and Dustbowl against bots. As part of the new menu system, TF2 characters show up in the upper right hand corner with player records. Players have reported that the Pyro shows up as a him and her on the main screen, which further questions the Pyro’s gender.
Also! If you haven’t seen the video yet or heard all the speculation, you have a lot of catching up to do. First off, the video has a windows comparison. Take a look at the screen below if you didn’t catch it. Engineer is also wielding a new shotgun with what appears to be a scope. Could it be a laser pointer, a scope, or something totally different. At the end of the video it says, “Think Bullets” which has been speculated to have something to do with the Engineer update.
Finally! One last bit. This showed up in the texture files in TF2 which can be easily viewed in hammer. Tobor is written in the middle which is Robot spelled backwards. Which further hardens speculations that the Engineer will be receiving a Robot as a new unlock (as hinted at in the recent Engineer Video.)
Big Things Are Coming…
In a new blog update on June 9th, 2010, Valve announced “Big Things” are coming to TF2. In the photo the Scout, Heavy, and Demoman are all wearing what appear to look like Apple iPod ear buds. Valve stated that the “Big Thing” that rhyme with “grapple” and “Speem Gortress zmavailable on the Babac” are what we should expect. We know, our guess is as good as yours. Who knows what this update will bring (wink.)

Team Fortress 2 costumes, next step.. Live Action Movie! (not really)
We’ve all wanted to see a full length Animated Team Fortress 2 movie, but it looks like Greg Peltz and Ryan Rasmussen took it a step further by making their own costumes. TF2 costumes seemed to peak around Halloween 2007 and the TF2 cosplay party but they have taken their costume quality to the next level. These two could not settle for a basic color and overall look, but crafted their uniforms down to the finest details. The weapons for the Soldier and Medic are 100% accurate all the way down to the crack on the Soldiers Rocket Launcher and the two made sure the costumes fit just like the do in the game.
One thing is for sure if their is ever a Live Action Team Fortress 2 movie, movie executives will now have somewhere to look.
How To Reset Your TF2 Stats
Ever wondered how to reset your Team Fortress 2 stats? Maybe you have 150 kills for Scout that you got on an achievement server. Unfortunatly you cannot just reset one stat you must reset them all. Just follow these simple steps to reset your TF2 stats. See pictures below for more explanation.
1.) Lauch Team Fortress 2
2.) Choose “Character Info And Setup
3.) Click on the “Stats” tab at the top of the page
4.) On the bottom right hand corner choose “Reset Stats”
5.) Click Ok
6.) Your stats should now be reset.
