TF2 Newspaper 100? What does it mean?

By now, if you haven’t see this 100? newspaper image on the TF2 opening load screen you either are not playing enough Team Fortress 2 or you are you need to set up an appointment with your eye doctor to check your vision. Under the “100?”, in small print, it says “What will this historic goal mean for mankind?” In the latest Soldier/Demoman update most of the news leading up to the war update was given in the form or newspaper headlines on the front of newspapers such as the one above. It appears that Valve has continued on with the style of informing us for this next update or event. One thing we do know based off the latest interview from Robin Walker is that the next update will not be the Engineer update but possibly a “Classless Update Part 2″.
Many TF2 gamers have speculated on what the 100 actually stands for. Some speculations have been quite believable such as, 100 days from the last update until the next (is their “goal”), a total of 100 items in inventory after the next update, a total of 100 hats after the next update, A total of 100 blog post (they are actually at 127), TF2 offical group reached 100k members, or 100 non-class related achievements added to the game to get a special hat. Then there has been some of the crazier, but possible, speculations such as, could be related to the new secret Soldier/Demoman high five animation taunts, total of 100 official tf2 Valve maps added after this update, number of reasons not to use the Pyro’s backburner, or the announcer is turning 100.
So if the 100 days until the next update is true, this would mean the next update would be Saturday, March 27, 2010, which is most likely not true considering all TF2 updates take place during the week.
So after reading all this information, your probably saying, “Ok, but what does the 100?, What will this historic goal mean for mankind, actually stand for!” Well, we all probably won’t actually know until the next update but, the team here at TF2PRO.COM put our huge brains together and came up with this guess: 100 is currently the max number of items you can carry in your backpack. However, there’s a question mark, so this must mean they are expanding the backpack size to accommodate room for the number or hats and weapons being added to the game in the next update.
Although, we could be wrong…
